"What garlic is to food, insanity is to art." -Augustus Saint-Gaudens
The only herb we can think of with more healing properties is
cayenne.
(We keep cayenne right on the table next to the salt and pepper to sprinkle a little on top of our food.) Here are just some of the benefits of using garlic:
The simplest way to get the garlic benefits is to add fresh garlic to any meal that you cook. We use garlic all the time in our house. However, cooked garlic doesn't have the same healing power as raw garlic. For that reason, we usually don't put the garlic into a recipe until the last few minutes of cooking. As a healing herb garlic can be taken in several different ways. For maximum effect, fresh garlic should be crushed before taking it, but it can also be found in pill and powder form. We have tried several different types of garlic pills ourselves. While they are easier and more convenient to take than the raw form, you may still have to contend with some pretty funky garlic burps... The bottom line? We like to make our "medicine" a part of our food. So just make sure that good fresh garlic and cayenne pepper are a part of every meal that you cook at home. These two herbs alone will go a long way towards keeping your family healthy all year around. As always, contact us if you have any questions or comments.
