Mayonnaise


One of the problems that we ran into while trying to cook delicious meals AND eat healthy, is that many of the tastiest recipes we found called for Mayonnaise.

Now Mayonnaise is not inherently bad for you. It's true that is contains high levels of oil and fat, but if you use the right ingredients, it's "good" oil and fat.

The reason why store bought Mayonnaise is so bad for you is that it is made from the cheapest ("bad") oil and fat, and it is chock full of additives and preservatives. (Check your labels.)


Here is our own Healthy Recipe for Mayonnaise:

  • 2 Egg Yolks
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tbs Brown Mustard
  • Pinch of Salt and Pepper
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 2 cups Olive Oil

Put all ingredients except for the Olive Oil into your food processor. Run the processor for 10-15 seconds.

Slowly dribble the Olive Oil into the mix while running. When ingredients are all mixed, move your Mayonnaise to a storage container and refrigerate.

You may never go back to store bought Mayo again.
