Healing Herbs
Cayenne

Of all the healing herbs cayenne is without a doubt the most used herb in our household. (Garlic runs a close second.) Cayenne just has so many uses and is so easy to use that the days that we don’t use it are few and far between.

“Cayenne is a gift to humanity because it has more health benefits than any other food or herb on earth. There are over 3000 scientific studies listed in the National Library of Medicine to support the use of cayenne in preventing and reversing many common health ailments. It is miraculous that a simple fruit like cayenne has healing benefits for a wide assortment of ailments. It has been used as a food, a spice and an herbal medicine for over 9000 years.”

Cayenne: A Remarkable Healing Herb
by Roopa Chari, M.D.

Wow, where do we begin? Every single kitchen should have the healing herbs cayenne and garlic. In particular, cayenne is an incredibly powerful tool for your health. It is arguably the most versatile healing herb that we have found.

Here are a few of the uses and health conditions that can be treated using cayenne:

  • Stops bleeding (internal and external)
  • Heart disease (it has been known to prevent and even stop heart attacks once they have started.)
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Colds and flu
  • Viruses
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Helps to prevent cancer
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • High cholesterol
  • Strokes
  • Constipation
  • Digestion
  • Dyspepsia
  • Circulation
  • System detoxification

Chances are good that you can walk into your kitchen right now and find some cayenne pepper in your cupboard. If not, you can go out and buy some just about anywhere; from grocery stores, health food stores, or specialty herb stores.

Powdered, liquid, and capsule are the most common forms of cayenne. You will want to choose the form that works for your chosen use of the herb. We keep it in powder form (for cooking, and external use) and liquid (to mix with water or juice for internal use).

For internal use, we recommend that your mix a few drops (you will want to use Bio-Kinetic Testing to find specific amounts) in a glass of water or juice and drink it down. If you are giving it to a child, you will want to decrease the pepper and increase the juice….unless you want to wear it on the front of your shirt. If it’s too hot, they will spit it right back out.

You may be familiar with the popular “Master Cleanse” that uses the healing herbs cayenne combined with pure water, fresh lemon, and pure maple syrup. (I just add the ingredients “to taste”.) This is a very powerful cleanse, but should not be used exclusively because of the potential for dehydration. Alternate between the Master Cleanse and just plain purified water to maintain proper hydration levels.

For external use, you can use liquid or powder form. Flush out a wound with a liquid tincture, or liberally apply the powder and cover with a bandage.

We really want to emphasize the use of Bio-Kinetic Testing when using any herbal remedies or natural medicines. Most people can use most herbs with little or no adverse side effects. But not every person can use every herb! Some of you may have an intolerance or allergic reaction to different natural herbs. It is best to be able to test for these allergies before you use them, rather than to deal with adverse effects after use.

Cayenne is quite possibly the most powerful healing herb ever discovered. We just don’t have enough room on this page to cover all of its uses.
