Healing Herbs
Chamomile

"The name Chamomile or Camomile (from Greek χαμαίμηλον - chamaimēlon) means 'earth-apple'[1], from χαμαί (chamai) 'on the ground' + μήλον (mēlon) "apple", because of the applelike scent of the plant. It can refer to any of several distinct species in the sunflower family (Asteraceae): The Chamomile flower is most often consumed in the form of a bitter herb tea infusion. Taken internally, the infusion's effects include calming of the digestive tract, and easing of the spasms of irritable bowel syndrome, nocturnal cramps and period pains. It is a relaxant and sedative, so it is often taken against insomnia or anxiety. The infusion can be used externally to reduce minor skin irritation because of its mild antiseptic effect and it lightens the hair. Ingestion of the dried flowers has an emetic effect. See Matricaria recutita for more complete details."

It can also be used to "relieve headaches and complaints associated with drug withdrawal." It is an "effective pain relief in muscles and bones." -From the book Bio-Kinetic Testing for Health by Tisha Mecham .

We have been using this healing herb so much lately that we thought we should create a page for it.

Our baby girl Lilly was only born a couple of months ago, and we're already using healing herbs with her.

The first few weeks after she was born, she was not gaining any weight. Although she seemed perfectly healthy, alert, and happy (she is always smiling) we were starting to get a little concerned.

We tried everything we could think of to get her to gain weight. We even started supplementing her breast milk with organic formula, hoping that we could just stuff her full enough to force a weight gain. But nothing seemed to work. For one thing, she was spitting up a lot of the food that we did manage to get inside her.

Finally, it occurred to us to use Bio-Kinetic Testing on her. (It's funny that sometimes the most obvious solution is the last one you will think of.) So we tested her, and we found that her poor little tummy was just full of yeast. Which explained why she was spitting up all of her food too. Not only that, but Beth was full of yeast, which is where Lilly was getting it in the first place.

The first thing we did was to put Beth on a yeast cleansing diet.

Then we tested to see if there was a healing herb that we could use to help eliminate the yeast from the baby's stomach, and we came up with the healing herb Chamomile. Although we have learned to always trust the testing, we double checked by doing a quick internet search on using this herb with babies. It turns out that Chamomile has been used for centuries on babies with Colic.

So we made some fresh chamomile tea and mixed a little in with her milk every day.

It helped almost immediately, but our midwife told us about something that would work even better. If you want to read the rest of the story you can do so on our blog.
