Your Natural Healthy Family, Welcome! September 30, 2008 |
Your Natural Healthy Family
What's new at NaturalHealthyFamily.com Our website, that's what's new! A new address, a new "look and feel", a new format, and a ton of new information (most of which we haven't even posted yet). We figured hey, a new house, in a new town, in a new state. A brand new baby on the way (baby Lilly is due to arrive on Halloween!) Might as well build a new website while we're at it. We hope you like it. Please feel free to give us input and let us know what kind of information you would like to see on the site. We love to hear from you. Quote of the Week "Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.” Doug Larson Our colds are not so common, how about yours? First, let me make a quick disclaimer. Right now both my partner Josh AND our 4 yr old daughter have colds. (Which is what prompted me to write this.) However, let me also say that we average only about 1 cold per year in our family. The fact is, that if you take the proper precautions, you can greatly reduce the number of "common colds" that your family gets, and reduce the duration and severity of the ones you can't avoid. Preventing colds The best offense when dealing with a cold, is a great defense. And your first line of defense is a healthy immune system. To promote a healthy immune system, eat right, drink water, get plenty of exercise and sleep, and avoid stress. (You've probably heard this before...) You can also take immune system boosting vitamins and herbs like vitamins c, e, b complex, echinacea, astragalus, and ginseng. Most cold causing viruses will never make it past a healthy immune system. Stopping colds in their tracks, and reducing their duration and severity. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we find ourselves sneezing and runny nosed. If that happens, you can still stop your cold in it's tracks if you act fast. One of our favorite practices for stopping a cold in it's tracks is a vinegar bath. Use a couple of cups of raw apple cider vinegar in a hot bath and soak for 1/2 hr to an hour. This will help to pull toxins out of your system. (Ginger in the bath does the same thing.) Also use anti-viral herbs in addition to immune boosting herbs to help your immune system fight the infection. Cayenne, garlic, elderberry, and licorice root among others. It is really important to get plenty of rest, and to watch what you eat and drink when you start feeling a cold come on. If you make an extra effort, you can usually stop a cold or at least get it over quickly. When is a cold not a cold? If you or someone in your family keeps getting colds, especially ones that seem to stick around forever, there is a strong possibility that you are actually experiencing an allergy. You could be allergic to any number of things, including the foods that you are eating, or a new detergent or cleaning chemical. Often, if you eliminate the allergen from your system for a short time, the allergy disappears. If not, you may be able to "reset" the allergy. The best way to identify allergies, or to know which herbs are most effective and how much to take of each, is to Bio-Kinetically Test for them.
This week's recipe: Yummy Breakfast! This is a very simple recipe that we use all the time for our family breakfast. It's fast and easy, and everyone loves it. It is a perfect combination of different taste elements; crunchy and creamy, sweet and sour. And it's very healthy. Over the years, it has come to be known in our family simply as "Yummy Breakfast!".
Mix the fresh fruit in a bowl, and set it out on the table next to your yogurt and granola. (Different people like different amounts of fruit, yogurt, and granola, so we don't recommend that you pre-mix it.) Have your family put the fruit in their bowl first, cover with yogurt, and sprinkle the granola on top. You can also sprinkle additional nuts, and sunflower and pumpkin seeds on top if you like. Add a little honey if it's not sweet enough. Some people like to stir it up so all the flavors mix. Others like the layered effect. Either way, it's delicious.
Coming Soon to NaturalHealthyFamily.com! Where do I start? First of all, check back with the
new website
regularly. We will be adding a ton of new content over the next couple of months. We are also in the process of writing a new E-book, 7 Steps to a Natural Healthy Family. It should be finished within the next two weeks, and you will be the first to read it because we are giving you all a free copy of it! Another big development is that we are releasing a new edition of the book Bio-Kinetic Testing for Health. For those of you who already own a copy of the book, don't worry, it has essentially the same great content. The only changes that we are making are to add an index, new contact info, and a new coil binding to make it easier to use. If you do have a copy of the old edition, let us know and we will be happy to send you a copy of the new index. Or better yet, give away your old copy and buy a new one! And last, but certainly not least, we are working directly with the author of Bio-Kinetic Testing to develop the official Bio-Kinetic Testing Home Study Program! This is something that we are extremely excited about. We are putting together a brand new program that will help people to integrate all of the principles of Bio-Kinetic Testing and the Natural Healthy Family. You are going to love it, we guarantee it! And we promise that you will be the first to know when these new programs become available. (In fact, we are planning to let our members order early for a substantial discount....shhh...don't tell anyone, or they'll all be doing it...) As always, feel free to contact us if you have any questions, comments, or requests. To YOUR health, Beth Blasingame and family We appreciate you sharing us with your friends. |
